: Hi

: I want to install Windows ME on a Compaq Deskpro curently running Windows 95. Can I just reformat as usual or is there a certain way it has to be done?

: Thanks

Suggest that you STUDY your manual and consult compaq. compaq systems I've seen have a non-DOS diagnostic partition that stores the CMOS Setup Program and compaq diagnostics. If you damage that partition you will not be able to get into CMOS Setup via F10. Inspect your CD or diskettes and make sure you can rebuild that partition and reload it BEFORE you reformat anything.

You SHOULD be able to format the c: partition the usual way as long as you don't mess with the non-DOS partition and don't change your partitions - but VERIFY that if you can.

Good Luck,
