There are a new series of disk drive enclosures that attach via USB2. They seem to be the perfect solution for copying/moving/backup of large amounts of data without installing tape drives or opening computer cases. After seeing one in action with a 100GB drive I went out and bought a 160 GB disk drive, a USB2 card and a USB2 drive enclosure. After installing all the drivers that came with these devices Windows 2000 Pro instantly recognized the drive. Unfortunately it only recognized 128 GB of the 160 GB capacity. It seems like a shame to waste 32 GB of disk space. After doing a little research I discovered that the disk driver that comes with W2K is a 32 bit driver and support for drives larger than 128 GB will require a new "48 Bit LBA translation" driver. I have found that "48 Bit LBA translation" drivers are available for IDE and Fireware devices but not for USB yet.

Does anyone know where one of these drivers can be found or what manufactures are working on the problem? Your help would be apreciated.
