I was running Windows 98 and linux on a single hard drive.
I bought a new one : Maxtor D740X-6L040J2 40Gb.
I installed it as a slave on my computer. To do so, I had
to upgrade my bios because large drives wasn't supported.
Everything was going well, and I installed Windows XP on
my new hard drive.

A few days ago, XP was running, and suddenly reboot.
So lilo runs, I choose Windows, and as I have both W98 and
WXP, I have to choose. I choose XP, and then black screen :
Your hard drive doesn't work blablabla. I can't do anything
else but booting again. If I boot again, I get the same thing
But If I do a cold boot (power off, wait like an hour, and then
power on), it works. I can run Windows XP, except that :

- after a certain amount of time, it crashes without any warning.
- chkdsk doesn't work on my new hard drive: it says : chkdsk is not available
for RAW filesytem.

More over : if I unplug my new hard drive, and run linux
(on my old hard drive), everything goes well
if I plug my new hard drive (as a salve), and run linux (always
on my old hard drive), I get errors like:
hda : dma_intr:error=0x84 {DriveStatusError BadCRC}
(where hda is my old hard drive, that works fine)

I can't run Norton on my new hard drive, because it crashes before
the end of the scan.
