Problems with Maxtor D740X 40GB hard disk
Maxtor 6L040J2 Ultra DMA133 7200rpm

Motherboard : Soyo SY-6KBE (4PCI slots)
Processor : Intel PII 233Mhz
Bios : Award Modular Bios v4.51PG KB4-2B2
12/08/1997 - i440LX-W977-2A69JS2CC-00

During startup the PC recognizes the Maxtor harddisk by saying : Maxtor6L040J2
The size of the harddisk is not being recognized correctly:
HD size : 33822 GByte

The Bios Hard disk has Auto-detect enable and selects LBA mode.
The Maxtor Hard disk has both jumper settings :
* Master
* Alternate Capacity

Why does my BIOS only recognize 33822 GByte of HD space while it should be 40GB?
I have tried to force the BIOS settings to the following parameters :
Cylinders 16383
Heads 16
Sectors 63
But this did NOT solve the problem....

What do you suggest ???
