: Where can I find the software to get the full 10.2 GB out of my hard drive

Sounds like you are up against a BIOS limit (about 8.4 GB). IF TRUE, look for a BIOS update on the mainboard maker's web site. The BIOS Release Notes should mention supporting HDD capacity larger than 8.4 GB or POSSIBLY (rare) state the maximum capacity supported. If larger HDD capacity support is not mentioned it is not provided by BIOS update.

If no BIOS update just get an ATA/66 card (or DMA/33); it will support HDDs up to about 128 GB and will be plenty fast for your HDD (ATA/100 or ATA/133 would work too but at much higher price).

If you need to figure out who made your mainboard and which mainboard model and version you have just follow the motherboard ID article at:
http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/moboid1.html

PLEASE do not use a drive overlay program like Disk Manager, MaxBlast, EZ-BIOS, EZ-Drive or anything like that - it will eventually cause trouble (Definitely if you ever need to recover files using a different PC).

Good Hunting,
Henry
