: I want to get rid of the NT4.0 on my laptop and install win98.2. How do i reformat my hard disc. I am new to this so stepwise instructions would be appreciated.

Depends what file system is use on that laptop
fat or ntfs get a boot disk for win98 second edition
bootup with this disk if you have a ntfs partion you get sum warnings because win98 ia a fat file system and dont recognize ntfs partion
1 run fdisk
2 enter choice 4 to see what kind of partion your have fat or non dos press ESC
3 enter choice 3 if you have a fat partion choice 1 if you have a non dos partion choice 4 follow the instructions on the screen en when the partions are delete press ESC and goto 1 follow the instructions on the screen now the new partion is made press ESC and restart computer
format the harddisk disk and start setup from the Windows CD dont forget to download drivers from your laptop vendor
