Thanx Henry.

My hardware configuration is:
Pentium 120
Socket 7
PIC and ISA bus
4 EDO RAM and 2 SDRAM (PC66)
The CMOS chip is : RALLAS DS12887A Real Time Clock
the chip has a embeded battery (sitting on the top of the chip inside) and is pluged into a socket.

: : Env: Pentium 120, 2 IDEs. Win98.

: : I have a problem to keep the BIOS settings (maybe due to a battery failure), so every time the CMOS setting goes to default seeings.
: : The "default" settings only have the first master HD be "AUTO". Thus I can only use one HD.
: : How can I add a second HD in this situation withou changing the battery-embeded COMS chip?
: : (Currently the second HD is connected as first slave and can be detedted by COMS, but it backs to default as soon as power up)
: Please post your hardware configuration and the number of the module (Real Time CLock) with the battery inside - DO NOT TRY to replace the battery or module (yet) I have links to useful info if you have what I think you have. The module should be in a socket but there is probably no way to connect an external battery without DELICATE surgery.

: Henry
