: Env: Pentium 120, 2 IDEs. Win98.

: I have a problem to keep the BIOS settings (maybe due to a battery failure), so every time the CMOS setting goes to default seeings.
: The "default" settings only have the first master HD be "AUTO". Thus I can only use one HD.
: How can I add a second HD in this situation withou changing the battery-embeded COMS chip?
: (Currently the second HD is connected as first slave and can be detedted by COMS, but it backs to default as soon as power up)

Please post your hardware configuration and the number of the module (Real Time CLock) with the battery inside - DO NOT TRY to replace the battery or module (yet) I have links to useful info if you have what I think you have. The module should be in a socket but there is probably no way to connect an external battery without DELICATE surgery.

BE CAREFUL.
