: I am trying to add a "Fujitsu MPG3409AT E" 40GB drive to my system but it auto-detects as 33822MB. Interestingly the auto-detect routines in the BIOS give three alternative configurations, all for 30GB and all with 16 heads (should be 2)... any ideas anyone?

: I'm running an Award BIOS v4.51PG dated 09/20/99 on an EliteGroup P6BAT-ME motherboard model 693-596-W977EF v1.1 (though it shows as v4.3a on extended data)

Your BIOS supports HDDs up to 32 GB. Check the ECS BIOS update Release Notes for your mainboard for aBIOS update to support larger HDDs (unlikely). If no BIOS update solution then use an ATA/66 card; it will support HDDs up to about 128 GB.

Good Luck,
Henry
