Most likely cause is a loose cable, check them all and make sure auto detect is on for the drive, if that still fails run scandisk from a floppy(if it can access the drive). Finally try downloading maxtor's drive test tool and run that it should be able to tell you whats happened.It could be that the drive mechanics have failed but its unlikely.
