Hi, (prepare for long-windedness)...

I have 3 computers, one with 3 hard drives (oldest), another with 2(newest), and one with one, (got it :)), I'm giving the oldest to my cousins, but needed to move all my files to one of the other computers, so I got my Western Digital 8.4Gb and whacked all the files from both of the other harddrives onto it, ok so far, all files copied, no worries. The HD is partioned into just one partition, I have then gone and disconnected this HD and attached it to a spare IDE slot on my computer with one HD, (The spare IDE Cable is connected only to the CD-ROM), now, the BIOS recognises the harddisk as a WD 8400, and the PC boots up, the problem is that windows 98 whilst it does detect it in the properties of 'My Comp' wont assign a letter to it, and allow me access to my files....

I have tried this in my new PC by removing one of my HD, (So I know the IDE cables are all ok) and the same problem occurs...

Upon FDISK it recognises there is another HD there, but says it's a non-DOS partition, could moving it have changed the partition type?!?!?

It worked fine on a Win98 SE comp to begin with, & shouldn't have a problem moving to another Win98 SE computer, should it?

Or am I mad...

If you could mail me as I'll be travelling over the next couple of days at:, with any answers or solutions!

Thanks all!
