The problem is caused when you remove Microsoft network components in network properties. When this happens the reference to vnetsup.vxd and dfs.vxd is not removed from the registry.

You need to alter the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\currentcontrolset\services\vxd\dfs/vnetsup) to correct this problem or install and remove network components in the control panel.
