I tried the solution below but it doesn't work with my system - IBM ThinkPad T21, Windows 2K, service pack 1. Any other ideas?

: What you need to do is go to your device manager and UNDER THE "IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLERS" press the sencond mouse button on the "PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI CONTROLLER" AND DISABLE THE DEVICE. DO NOT UNINSTALL JUST DISABLE. THEN REBOOT. GO BACK TO YOUR DEVICE MANAGER AND THEN ENABLE THE "PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI CONTROLLER" Windows 2000 will then recognize the shark drive and it will show up under disk drives as "AVATAR AR2250SP" and under my computer.

: For some reason you have to do this every time. So before you shutdown again you have to disable it and then enable it when you restart. But it seems to work.
