: I've just got a IDE #0 ERROR on my Toshiba Portege 3020CT. Following that error, this one pops up.
: Insert System Disk in drive.
: Press any key when ready....

: Does anyone have an idea how to get past this or what it means to both my hard-drive (i.e. is it completely dead) or my information (i.e. Have I lost all my work, if so can I go home now?).

: Any information would be a great help. Good news would be even better.

Your HDD Might not be dead. Try booting from floppy to see if the drive is readable. You may have to change the boot order in the BIOS to do this. To access the BIOS on a Portege 3020CT, shut the unit off and as soon as the big red Toshiba appears on-screen press and hold the Esc key. Then press the F1 key to continue if prompted and then ensure that that the boot order is FDD->HDD.
