: Now, I get different error messges, where the number changes. Can someone please help me?

I found an answer that might help you as it did for myself. I found this information in another forum... and it goes like this:

A: Ick... the dreaded VMM VXD conundrum. This is most likely a RAM issue, but there another thing you can try (short of replacing the RAM). Completely uninstall your video card, revert to a "Standard Video Adapter", and start over with its installation. Note that you have to completely remove any trace of your video card. This sometimes involves removing keys from the Registry, deleting files from the windows/system folder, etc. If you aren't sure on how to do that, Creative Labs has a decent walkthrough on their website, and you can find it HERE*. Even if your video card isn't made by Creative, this guide will help with almost any brand of card. It walks you through the Registry settings, removing INF files, etc.
Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the video card may fix your problem (it fixed mine when I was getting the same error you were). If the problem persists, the next culprit is your RAM.
