Could somebody help me please?

I have a 40GB Maxtor hard disk that is on EZ-BIOS.
It was partitioned into
C (4 GB)
D (8 GB), E (8 GB), F (8GB)
G (12 GB).

It had all my data (around 30% filled) and C was the boot partition containing Windows98.

I dont know if I made a mistake but I ran FDISK on it while in a Windows98 session. Then I played around with setting the active partition and when I finished, I exited FDISK.

Then I rebooted my system. It says there that EZ-BIOS is continuing the startup but it doesnt go anywhere anymore. I must have messed up something but I didn't do any partition changes (creation and deletion).

I still need the data on my HD but I can't get to accessing it. What must I do? Can anybody please help?
