: To all who have a UMAX scanner and have experienced the “VMM32.VXD Missing/Unable To Load” Message:
: I discovered a patch on the UMAX FTP site that fixes the problem. If you’re not familiar with FTP you can use your web browser – or any FTP reader/browser such as AOL’s.
: Go to: FTP.UMAX.COM and find “Scanners\Patches\VM32_Error\
: Download the file UMAXIS11.EXE and then double click on it to extract file UMAXIS11.386. Copy this into your Windows file to replace the one already there. Bingo – problem solved (for me at least) on the next bootup. Good luck!

: : : If you have a Umax scanner, most likely, the scanner software is causing it. umax has a fix for it at their site, www.umax.com. It's worked for me and my brother. We both have Umax scanners ad encountered the same problem.
: : I've had this same problem... It's not fun and UMAX only has a small little page mentioning that there's a 'small problem' with their scanners on systems over 300mHz. The patch is available, but not tfrom the link provided earlier. Search for +vmm32 on UMAX's search page and it will take you to the patch. Good Luck =)
