I did the same thing last year. The enginer at Quantum advise me to use their ONTRACK Disk Manager software. Available on their Web site (see below).
Basically the AMI BIOS does not expect more than 4095 Cylnders. It writes a driver in the Boot Record of the disk to fool the BIOS to think there are 4095 cylinders, but with more blocks per cylinder.
