There is a utility that is written by these guys that will allow you to change your volume id on a FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS (pre/post NT4SP5 and Win200o, WinXP) volume. Best of all it is free. Checkout www.sysinternals.com and look for the utility called volumeid. It worked for my Win2k SP2 C: drive!
