You're right, NVidia cards allow you to activate TV-out only if they can detect the TV on the output. I never had problems with that, but when I wanted to fool my card, I just closed the output with 75 ohm resistor; It worked really nice. If your cable has a bigger impedance, it might not get detected as a TV-set. You might try therefore to shunt you cable in parallel with such a resistor on the TV-out of the card.
PS.: don't worry, the resistor will not harm your card. Just make sure it's at least 75 ohms.
