I have display problems at COLD start up up with my computer. I say COLD because if it's been on a little while it boots up fine. When I restart the problems ALWAYS dissappear.
Here's my machine:
ASUS A7V266-E (with Athlon XP 1900+ chip installed)
Windows 98 SE OS
Radeon 7200 64MB AGP
Maxtor 7200 RPM 40 GB HD
Santa Cruz Turtle Beach Sound Card (Motherboard OPTIONAL built-in board Sound chip disabled in BIOS)
SOJO 10/!00 E-net (NIC)
ASUS USB Extender port
Standard SONY CD ROM
Standard 3.5 " floppy
Antec Power Supply (400 watts)
It's really driving me nuts because after I restart (following a cold powr up) it runs like a champ with ZERO problems running todays more demanding games and streams. I have beem all over the I-net trying to get a lead and keep coming up dry. I have updated ALL my drivers for EVERYTHING, but I haven't flashed the BIOS (Too chicken!) I don't want to screw that up, so I am living with the inconvenience of a "PARKAYED" ICON display and tool bars at start up. The wierd thing is the background picture I selected (ANY and ALL to include only Windows 98 default Aqua blue)are in perfect order...no "parkaying or "striping". I built this machine and selected each component from recommended compatibility list (Too include PWR supply) Send help soon. Frustrating.
