If, and I do mean If, the inboard chip can be disabled its usually through the BIOS in 'advanced chipset features' or similar, but look through all the pages until you find a line 'onboard VGA' or near it.
I say if because you dont say if its a PCI card or an AGP Geforce card(PCI are getting rare) and usually a board that can take a third party card has a vacant AGP slot, if the SIS card is described as AGP you probably dont have one and got a PCI card.I hope not because its unlikely that a board without an AGP riser will take a PCI card because you cant disable the onboard which makes it totally un-upgradeable.
