In which case its likely to be a resource problem, you may have 128Mb RAM installed but how much of it is used by background tasks? try closing all the programs that display an icon in the system tray, close you virus checker and if you have any M$ office apps remove the entries for fast find and OSA in the start folder.
Media player demands an unreasonable amount of memory at the best of times and believe it or not 128 Mb RAM just ain't enough nowdays.
