: I have upgraded from an 8m ATI Rage Pro to the above mentioned card with the result that (seemingly) any game that requires hardware 3d acceleration will freeze at random during the game.

: The only game which crashes consistently at the same point is Star Wars Phantom Menace at the end of the second level. Lucasarts have been unable to assist despite being very helpful.

: Other games include Project IGI demo (consistently)
: Trickstyle (sometimes)
: Deux Ex (crashes almost immediately)

: I have to reboot when the system hangs.

: System:
: Celeron 333 (no giggling!)
: 128Mb PC133
: On board Yamaha sound
: Chaintech 6ESA board
: DirectX 8.

: I've tried detonator drivers, re-installing Windows(98), BIOS upgrades, sound driver upgrades, etc. Without success.

: I have tried a friends GeForce 2MX card which worked like a dream.

: Should I cut my losses?!

: Many thanks

I recently bought an Inno3D Tornato M64, which arrived DOA, and was replaced the next day. The next card also hung at random. This is because of the CRAP way Inno3D stick the heatsink onto the chip. The gloop was completely lop-sided, with half the chip left bare, not contacting the chip atall. So, I (highly not reccomended) prised the heatsink off the chip, scraped all the crap off it, cleaned it with acetome, and stuck it back on with arctic silver themal epoxy. It now works flawlessly, even when overclocked. The thermal epoxy is a bit dear, mind. Message to ALL GFX Manufacturers: Re-think how you stick the heatsink!
Hope this helps!
