The savage 3d card is older then the 3dfx ones and although a very good card (have one myself in my spare pc) its an old card that is no longer supported.

as for direct x support there are very few cards about that fully support and intergrate to DX8, the gee force Ti series are about the only ones ive heard of so far.

just get the latest drivers for your card and you wont do too wrong.
