Dear Sirs,
I encountered problems trying to upgrade Hercules GeForce 2MX drivers. Firstly, I boot in safe mode, then I uninstalled from "control panel" the old drivers (5.32d), I deleted every associated INF file I found (nv*.*, gui*.*, etc) and last I deleted every Nvidia and Guillemot entry from the registry (with regedit). Please note that the 5.32d driver was the only installed (I didn't have any other cards or drivers previously). After that, I reboot in normal mode and it appears the message saying: "windows detected new hardware" and the "add new hardware wizzard" begins. Following the wizzard, I receine a msg that "the hardware you are trying to install conflicts with another", but I ignore it and I install the new drivers 14.10(from Hercules site) as "standard display adapter(VGA)". The files are copied to system folder and the windows display reboot message. I reboot the system (in normal mode offcourse) and here's the problem: just before loading windows the screen is black and my monitor displays msg that it doesn't receive singal. I press ESC (to bypass the log on window) and the windows load as I can hear the characteristic sound (I still don't see anything- my screen is black). Then, I have to reboot in safe mode and uninstall the 14.10 drivers and to install the old 5.32d which work perfect.
I would be grateful tell me if I am doing something wrong during the update procedure and if not how can I fix the problem?
If there is aconflict how can I detect it (please note that after installation the screen is black and in safe mode such info isn't available)? How can I restore the conflict?
Thank you very much for your valuable support.
P.S: The need to upgrate the drivers was because every game I started crashes in few secs. This from the moment I bought the system (few months ago). I assume sth 's going wrong with the QDI mobo (VIA Apollo Pro133A, bios v.4.0SLCP).No conflict with the 5.32d drivers.
