If you get any other advice, follow that first, but if nothing works, try reinstalling windows.
You can do that by going to My Computer, right-click on the C: drive, go to properties, click the TOOLS tab, and make a backup floppy. Then restart your computer, and when it says "loading Windows" (or somethihng to that effect) press F8, then, at the DOS prompt, type A:\ . Then when the prompt becomes "A:\" type SETUP, and follow the instructions from there.

Got it all? Sorry if you already knew how to do that, I just like explaining things. :-)
