I have been having this problem, which a few other people have had, and I sent an e-mail to ATI, who replied with this e-mail. I haven't yet tried it (tonight is the big night!), but I thought others who were in similar situations might like to give it a try. If the solution works, please give my site a visit (no popups etc...) www.x-lent.co.uk . Thanks. Here's the e-mail:-

Based on our experience, Rage fury MAXX issues are usually due to erros in
the installation process, and we believe that following these steps could
solve your problem :

As the Fury MAXX is only AGP 1X/2X compatible please check the following (
refer to the Mainboard manual ) :

CMOS Option Recommended Setting
AGP Bus Turbo Mode
AGP Turbo DISABLED
Primary Frame Buffer
VGA Frame Buffer DISABLED
AGP 1X/2X/4X Set to 2X or 1X
AGP Aperture Size
AGP Aperture DEFAULT or 64MB

The latest ATI Rage Fury MAXX drivers Windows 98/Me are available on this
page :

http://support.ati.com/drivers/winme/winme_4127942.html

Please re-install the Fury Maxx card as follow :

1. Install standard vga drivers for both Maxx ( english ) & secondary Maxx
from SAFE MODE :

- Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel;
- Click on the Display icon which will open the Display Properties;
- Click on the Settings tab in Display Properties and click on the Advanced
button
- Click on the button Change graphics adapter and Next;
- Select "Display a list...
- Chose and install a Standard VGA driver from the list

2. Now, remove all ATI drivers :

- Open Windows Explorer
- Click on Display > Folders Options > Display. Please ensure that "Display
all Files" under Hidden Files is selected. If not, select this option. Close
this window and the Explorer.

- Click on Start
- Click on Find Files/Folders
- Type ati*.*
- When Windows has found all ATI files, please delete them all.
- Go to " start " ;
- Click on " run " ;
- Type in " regedit " ;
- Go to : HKEY Local Machine ; Software ; delete the Folder ATI technologies
and ATI technologies Inc.
- Restart the system

3. Two monitors will be detected in Device Manager. Please delete the second
one.

4. Install the latest AGP drivers for the chipset of your motherboard. If
for what reason ever the AGP drivers are not the latest ones available, this
procedure will fail.

5. Now you can install the ATI driver either from the cd or from the
downloaded file :

From CD 120 (You can also find these instructions in the readme file of the
drivers) :

- Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel;
- Click on the Display icon which will open the Display Properties;
- Click on the Settings tab in Display Properties and click on the Advanced
button
- Click on the button Change graphics adapter and Next;
- Select "Display a list...
- Select " Show all devices " ;
- Click on " Have disk " ;
- Browse the CD 120 to find the directory \install\r1289x\atidrive\ and

you downloaded the driver mentioned above you would browse to C:\ ATI \
SUPPORT \########en .) When you get there the file name, choose the first

installation BUT DO NOT RESTART YOUR SYSTEM AT THE END .

6. Apply ; DO NOT RESTART COMPUTER YET .
