the adapter bios and the motherboard bios are critical in getting the drive to be recognized. I have got an epson scsi scanner which conflicts with an ide cdrom drive which stops the scanner being recognized.remove hardware and pci cards and check internal scsi cables and termination to help narrow the problem. Search for scsi discussion forums as well
