Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated!
The solution to my problem turned out to be a little program called EZ BIOS which enabled large disk support on my dinosaur Dell. Thanks again.

: I'm working with a Dell Omniplex 586. When installing a used HDD (W.D. AC22100 2.1GB) it shows up in the boot-up but when I try to enter FDISK I get a "No fixed disk present" msg. I set it up in Dell's funky and too simplistic BIOS, as 'USER' with the correct parameters.

: I also tried a different AC22100 HDD and although it alowed me into the FDISK utility the HDD showed as a 530mb HDD.

: Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
