A device that sits on the PCI bus and controls the ethernet traffic, otherwise a NIC Network Interface Card, you may have a motherboard mounted chip which does the job look in the BIOS and disable it, then look in control panel/network and look if an adapter exists in there if so remove it this should stop the driver request.
