: I have been struggling with this problem for months, several problems actually. There are yellow triangles with black exclamation marks on next to the "primary and secondary ide controllers" when i right click on "My Computer" under properties and device manager...there is also one next to my "standard floppy disk controller" My floppy does not work, my cd-rom drive is not even recognized anywhere, and my video driver does not work...maybe i just need a new computer...Im currently using Windows ME..if anyone has any advice Id greatly appreciate it..Thank you..

Check out the troubleshooting instructions at the attached link.
I had exactly the same problem, removing and reinstalling the devices had no effect.
It turned out that all my Controllers were in "MS-DOS Compatibility Mode" because
the "Disable all 32-bit protected-mode disk drivers" check box had been
selected on the Troubleshooting tab in File System properties section
of the Performance Tab on System in Control Panel (got all that?).
I unchecked the box, rebooted, and the problem was gone!

See the attached URL, especially Section 3. It gives a clearer explanation than I did.
Hope it helps.
