Maxtor drives, especially, but not limited to, 20GB versions, have an incompatibility issue with certain versions of the HPT366 BIOS.
Download a flash update to your adapter BIOS if you are using an adapter card.
DO NOT DO THIS YET IF YOUR HPT366 IS BUILT INTO THE MOTHERBOARD.
In that case, you have two options:
(1) The adapter BIOS is most likely integrated into the System BIOS. You have to update your system BIOS so your HPT366 BIOS will v1.21 or higher.
(2) If the adapter BIOS has its own flash BIOS chip (highly unlikely), go to Highpoint Technologies's website (www.highpoint-tech.com) and download a BIOS revision of v1.21 or higher.
