I have a P3-500 Gateway with a Promise Ultra ATA/66 IDE controller. My problem is that it is running incredibly slow, taking approx. 30 minutes to boot to the desktop. Similar times to run any apps. When I look in Device Manager under hard drives, all I see is the secondary controller along with the Intel BUS. No yellow ! or anything else. Just no primary controller. In BIOS setup the primary drive was set to "none". I changed it to "auto" thinking that would do it but I got the same problem.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
