: I'm having some wierd CDrom problems
: that I can't figure out. A few months ago, my CDROM
: stopped working. I ditched it and picked up a new one.
: After installing it, it worked for a couple weeks and
: now it stopped working just like the other one. I've checked
: and replaced cables and connections, and I can't seem to
: figure out why this keeps happening. In the device manager
: there's no working CDrom controllers? Could that be the problem?
: If so, how would I fix that? I'm running Windows 95. Thanks.

I have a similar problem. My CDRom quit working and the system removed the drive from MY COMPUTER and from WINDOWS EXPLORER. In addition, the system removed the CDROM controllers from the DEVICE MANAGER in SYSTEM under CONTROL PANEL. The weird thing is that I was able to reload my factory default settings using the packaged floppy boot up disk and accompanying cdrom disk. Even after doing this the DEVICE MANAGER still has no CDROM controllers listed and both WINDOWS EXPLORER and MY COMPUTER have no icon for the cdrom drive. The system does recognize the cdrom when it boots up but windows doesn't. I don't know what would cause this to happen. I could sure use some direction.

Tim
