: my 24102B CD-RW doesn't work well. at boot sequence the abit BX6v2 can't detect it. the LED shines durable.
: after rejumping or port-/cable-change the drive will be detected but the tray is open all the time. it doesn't accept any cd.
: what's that kind of problem? how can I get rid of it?

I have the same problem. On power-up the drive light stays on, and the drive isn't recognised, but after shutting down, then powering up again immediately it works fine. I have this problem since I bought the drive, but when I returned it to the shop it worked fine of two occasions, so they won't replace it. The following text I have copied from one of the discussion forums on the LiteOn website. I haven't tried upgrading the firmware as it is not reversible.

Issue: Drive was working fine then developed a problem where it wouldn't recognize audio CDs then eventually no CDs. It would simply spit the CD back out.

Fix: I remove IDE cable and power from the drive. Then jumpered pin 4 & 6 on the 3 pin array just left of the DA connector.

So it looks like,

* *-*

Then I plugged the power back in a inserted an Audio CD. The drive recognized it, no problem.

Then I REMOVED the jumper and plugged the IDE cable back in. Everything works perfectly again.

Reason: I image there is a bug in the firmware that fries a CMOS or a buffer issue and by shorting those pins you clear the MOS. Thats just my guess.
