: hello!

: I tried to install MS XP and during the initial phase the procedure hangs with a blue error message that (I think) refers to a problem occurred to the IDE controller.
: Infact the message reports some "mass storage missing" problems.

: This is my machine:

: Abit be6 with HPT366 controller (updated to version 1.25 along with Award Bios);

: OS Win98SE (i'm trying to install XP on another partition);

: 256Mb RAM;
: 1 hd IBM 12Gb with 2 partitions;
: 1 hd Maxtor 20Gb with 2 partitions;
: Creative Sb Live!5.1;
: ATI Rage 128 Pro AGP.

: Please, someone else has the same problem?

: Thanks

: Vittorio

At start WINXP asks for drivers: install the HPT366 driver from the CD that came with your Abit motherboard and it WILL work.

Hope that helps
