I had that problem too. I believe the problem lies with SiS's shitty IDE controllers. Uninstall the driver you were using and install new ones. I'm having the problem of not being able to change my motherboard to UATA 100... Shitty SiS and shitty PCCHips Mobo. Don't buy board or chipsets from these companies. a they're shit, b. these companies cannot communicate for shit, so forget any kind of "support". Good luck!
