Hi there !
here is my problem:

MSI 6120 scsi 7895 chip dual p-III-600 256MB ram millenium GFX ibm dghs 9GB harddsik.

I am having serious problems installing any operating system: win98/win2000/winnt4.

When i try to install winnt4, I get to the point where i select my scsi chip eg.7895 adaptec. BUT ... he always tells me that i don't have this chip installed. AND bevor you tell me that I have to disallow nt4 setup to search automatically for mass storage adapters ... I did that with F6 !

... so he finds nothing ... but doesnt accept my 7895 driver from the original adaptec 7895 floppy.

When i dont press F6 ..he finds an 78xx chip .... and installation continues ... BUT ..the system hangs very often when writing to disk ... not at specific stages of the installation ... it happens randomly .. is th 7895 chip damaged ... or is it because i can't install the correct driver ?

OK I tried win2000 ... ...this time he automagically finds my 7895 chip !! hurray !

BUT ... the installation hangs none the less at some stage too !!!!!

NOW .. I got a PC with the 7880 chip an di know how to terminate a scsi bus ...in my case there is only ONE ibm dghs 9 GB disk attached to it ..so this can't be a scsi termination problem ....

I also tryed with different cpu speeds ... taking the cpu's down to 400 ... and plugging in other memory ... running with only one CPU .. nothing helped .. the system always hangs at some point ...

sorry for the long post ..... but i am quite pissed with my new SUPER 7895 CHIP

anyone got the same problem or does know how to solve it ? I will pay you any summ :)

pino

ps: Next thing i will try is to get a ide Harddisk and try to install NT4 from there ...if that works fine ..it must be my scsi chip !!!!
