I've got a BP6, and I've got a similar problem. What I've found is that with a non-u66 cable it works fine. Change cable, and whammo.

However, it dies with the u66 cable, even if the hpt366 is set to PIO mode.

I'm going to try to remove the device sharing the bus with the hpt, but other than that I have no ideas.

Thanks.

: And then I tried to copy a file from one HD to another and BAM! I receive a deathly error, "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". The system then reboots itself. This problem can be repeated over and over, and has crippled my system. So after doing Safemodes and checking on the problem, I noticed that my Intel NIC and USB Device was sharing IRQ 11 with the Highpoint Controller. So I decided to please the controller so it exclusively has its own IRQ. Only way to do this is to free up IRQs so the NIC is assigned a different IRQ. I disabled the Serial/Floppy controller (since I don't need it) to free up extra IRQs. During bootup, the NIC is assigned IRQ 5 and the USB is disabled. The Highpoint Controller is by itself on IRQ 11. I repeat the file copying and same problem occurs.
