Make sure that your bios is set properly.

Boot your machine, press the correct key on your keyboard, usually the DELETE key to get into bios.

Check to make sure that your drive is showing there.

Next you want to go into advanced settings and make sure that both your IDE ports are fully active. Once you've done that, if your system still no longer sees your drive, it's more than likely, that your CD RW Drive has gone bad.. they do die...
