By following the instructions here: I was able to get it working with XP's built in software after installing the XP usb drivers and the HP RecordNow software.

You may also want to try to install all the HP Software you can for your drive and THEN try Nero.. I've heard of people using nero with their drive but I haven't been able to get it to work, then again I haven't installed all the HP software like the DLA and stuff.
