: : Hello ,I need bios upgrade for packard bell computer
: ...

: Can you send me the bios version
: : I need??

: : Current version : Amibios 1.00.07 CPOR 1992
: : American Megatrends

: : Greets,
: : Kevin

: Hi Kevin,

: I had a similar problem. I located an updated BIOS (1.00.07.CP0R release 7.0 Thousand Oaks) at the following location: http://support.packardbell.com/uk/mypc/index.php?PibItemNr=REFBIOS00220400&PibItemParent=platform_legacy_PB#show

: BIOS now correctly detects the Processor speed as 233Mh.

: Note: Contrary to the instructions at the web site, when extracted to floppy the diskette is not bootable. You need to make it bootable (using DOS '>sys a:' command from your C drive etc), or as I did, boot from another floppy, then insert the BIOS disk and run the utility.

: Hope this info is of help, and good luck.

: By the way this has'nt solved all my problems. I still cannot get the PC to boot from CDROM even though the BIOS supports this.

: Also, my son wants Windows 2000 or XP since he uses these at school, and I have not been able to get beyond the initial installation stage ... the PC locks up when trying to load 2000/XP (ntdetect.com).

: Windows 95 & 98 install OK, and I have also been able to install Linux Mandrake 9.2, but since 2K/XP is required, I am stuck. Any ideas, suggestions will be most welcome.

: Yours,

: Lawrence.
