My daughter's IBM thinkpad laptop DVD has packed up so I purchased a Liteon USB external DVD rewriter to replace it. (floppy drive still ok)
The laptop is running Win 98 and Windows detects a "USB Mass storage device" and attempts to find a driver. It can't find one so asks for the supplied CD - which of course I cannot load!
I have tried all of the following to no avail :-

1. Copying the "win 98 USB Driver" folder and contents to floppy and selecting "A" drive as holding driver. Win reports "no suitable driver found"

2. Manually selecting "generic cd" from windows driver options - still no joy.

3. Trying to locate driver to dowload on Liteon's website (model not listed, even though new).

4. Contacting Liteon support via email (no reply)

Help please - she's just started Uni and needs me to sort fast!!
