: sorry, added the wrong link to awdflash.exe 7.7.1 (The other link may come in handy for documentation about "how to flash").

Tip: dowload the bootdisk.exe from e-support.com

'I've downloaded the same bios string as JB from
: http://wims.rainbow-software.org/nicks/Chaintech%206SSA2.zip but JB's link to the flash awd812.zip doesn't work anymore. So I've tried the awdflash.exe from e-support.com but than igot the message 'the program file's part number does not match with your system' Next I searched the internet and found another version of flashawd.exe, namely 7.7.1. This one worked!!
: As a result the 40g drive was detected.
: After flashing you may need to adjust the bios manually if:
: Windows cannot find certain devices anymore or gives configuration problems (especially PnP devices)Probable cause:Old BIOS settings have not been removed
: After updating the BIOS, please do the following:
: 1. Run the AWDFLASH utility with option /CC: AWDFLASH /cc (+enter)
: 2. Go into the BIOS setup and choose `Load Setup Defaults`
: 3. Go to the `PnP/PCI Configuration` section of the BIOS and enable the `Reset Configuration Data` option (2nd line), Then `Save Settings and Exit`and startup your system as usual.

: : : : : : : I have the same bios "04/16/1999-SIS-5600-8661-2A6ILC39C-00" in my Aldi Fif computer after checking the Main Board was a Chaintech and installed the bios
: : : : : : : 04/26/1999-SIS-5600-8661-2A6ILC39C-00 from
: : : : : : : http://wims.rainbow-software.org/index.php?start=40&count=40
: : : : : : : with the switches you can override the
: : : : : : : "This update says: "the program file's part number does not match with your system""

: : : : : :
: : : : : : : The update worked fine for my. The board now supports the 80Gig Western Digital disk.
