Well... I would not be so certain that the BIOS is going to be Problem...yet.
Have you tried the drive in your system yet? Did you set the BIOS to Auto and try formating it? (if all goes well during POST)

For help on this topic, read here:

& try their troubleshooting-tool:

You may want to consider a add-on PCI ATA133 controller board as an option.

How to get started flashing BIOS:
1)You must CORRECTLY identify the make/model/revision of you Motherboard.

This task can be achieved by:
a)physically looking at the board and find the info (part number/model/rev) silkscreened (painted) on the board. (Yes this means removing case cover!)

b)Write down the BIOS string that is displayed during POST and search the web for that string.

c)Us a software utility to help identify your Board: Here is couple for you to try:

Once you think you have identified the board correctly- you should go to the manufacturers website and compare the physical characteristic of your board with the info shown for your make/model revision. (Number of PCI/ISA slots, CPU type, Memory slots -number,type and location, Jumper Locations, Chipset etc....)

I would use two of the above methods to verify 100% that you have identified the board crorrectly.

This mb identification process is VERY important because if you flash the board with the incorrect BIOS "You MAY render your board inoperable". ( this would be a bad thing!@)

You can usually find the flash procedure/utility and Bios image on the manufacturers web-site. But you need to identify the board CORRECTLY first.

hope this helps you a lil.....
