December 10, 2003: I got a P2L97 rev. 1.05 board off eBay. BIOS version was 1005. Tried to upgrade to 1009 with AFLASH.EXE, but it would not recognize the flash memory. Tried PFLASH.EXE; upgraded, but the boot would hang if a hard drive was connected. Disconnected all HDD, got it to boot, but BIOS would hang if I tried to change the HDD BIOS settings. Downloaded version 1010.004 beta. Loaded with PFLASH. System works fine. Good luck!

: I "was" just about to upgrade mine but you all have me too nervous to try it.

: : I've got the same problem !!! damn Asus

: : : I was searching the knowledge base on asus, since i had the same problem. there I found a newer bios you can download... well, I can't boot, so i will have to go to a technician who can burn this or the old bios on the EPROM...

: : : you can download it here:

: : : ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/beta/mb/bios/lx10104.zip

: : : it at least has a newer date... and regarding to the knowledge base, it will support HD bigger than 65GB..

In bios I cant find anything wrong and it finds the 40GB drive i put in but it dosnt boot from any of the devices.
