: My daughters PC has had it so I've taken the hard drive out with a view to putting it in an old Compaq Deskpro 2000 5200MMX. The Deskpro works fine with a Maxtor hard drive (C: 1.17 Gb, D: 1.8 Gb)running Windows ME and 384 Mb of memory. The disc I want to put in is a Fujitsu whcih I think is about 40Gb. Knowing the original Compaq was limited to 2Gb per drive, with the error message I received with the new drive (1790 disk 0 error)and form whatI've read on various site, I think I need to update the BIOS. Is this the case and if so - help. Can anyone tell me which download I need, wher to get it, what to do etc? Feel free to email me direct. Thanks George B

Go to www.hp.com and search for your model #,then downloads, then bios update file. Read the instructions before you download and try to update the bios. You can fry your board if done incorrectly. Make sure you are on ac power and ups backup if possible. You could email them and ask the largest size hdd your board will support, before you upgrade.
