I will expand on my exp. with the 93C86 a little:
I removed the 93C86 from the mainboard and read/erased it in a external programmer. (filled with "FFh") I verified it was all FF after prog..

I reinstalled the chip and upon re-boot, all the fields (tag/pw) still have their orig data. hrmm??
It is worth noting that I forgot to unplus the CMOS battery while doing this! Is it poss that the data was in the CMOS too and reloaded the eeprom upon boot? Or is it that the 93C86 is only storing data for the onboard ENET??.... Should I try again but remove the batt this time?
