I'm afraid it is NOT that simple. Phoenix BIOS is extra difficult. You MUST know your mainboard maker, mainboard model and revision before you can get started with Phoenix. If you know all of that, go to the mainboard maker's web site to find the BIOS update. I doubt that you will find a useful update for a 486 mainboard and the BIOS may not be flashable anyway.

Suggest that you consider an IDE interface card with its own BIOS. I have an ISA bus IDE card from Siig (there are others) that I used for a long time on my old 486. It beat the 0.5GB BIOS limit (up to 8.4GB and ran the CD as well - all auto detected.
